BEAVERTON, Ore. – Reading (Pa.) Wyomissing Area Top50 linebacker Alex Anzalone announced his commitment for Notre Dame at The Opening.
The 6-foot-3, 232-pound Anzalone chose the Irish over his other two finalists, Florida and Penn State.
“Obviously the academics speak for itself,” Anzalone said. “I have a good relationship with all the commits and I have a good feel for the coaches and everyone there.”
Ranked as the nation’s No. 4 outside linebacker and No. 43 prospect overall, Anzalone makes it commit No. 17 for Notre Dame in the class of 2013. He is the fourth linebacker in the fold, joining Jaylon Smith, Michael Deeb and Danny Mattingly, and the ninth Top247 commit for the Irish overall.
Besides his finalists, Anzalone also held offers from the likes of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida State, Miami, Michigan, Ohio State, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Stanford and USC.
