While Notre Dame junior quarterback Tommy Rees and senior linebacker Carlo Calabrese will face their hearings this morning (May 17) in South Bend, a third Notre Dame player, sophomore receiver DaVaris Daniels, also might be facing internal disciplinary action.
Last Sunday (May 13), Daniels was cited for consumption of alcohol by a minor, according to the Chicago Tribune in police records it obtained from Vernon Hills, Ill., Daniels’ hometown. He was among 29 individuals cited at underage party that took place at his home address.
"I'm aware of the citation DaVaris received and will be speaking with him about the matter," Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said in a statement released on Wednesday. "Any team-related discipline that may be forthcoming will be handled internally."
Rees and Calabrese were arrested May 3 at an off-campus party about a half-mile from the school. Rees was cited for four misdemeanors, while Calabrese was originally arrested for disorderly conduct. However, the Chicago Tribune reported May 16 that prosecutors charged him with intimidation, including allegedly repeating, "My people will get you."
Blueandgold.com’s Dan Murphy will report more later on the courthouse proceedings today.
