BlueandGold.com has learned that Charlotte (N.C.) Catholic running back Elijah Hood has decided to open up his recruitment. The 5-11, 224-pound prospect decommitted from Notre Dame earlier today.
Hood committed to Notre Dame on April 28 after a visit to South Bend with his parents and has been adamant about his love for the Irish since that point.
However, sources close to the situation told BlueandGold.com recently that the distance from home is a major factor for his decision to reopen his recruitment and no longer remain committed.
When Hood decided back in April, most believed that the four-star recruit choose Notre Dame over North Carolina. It looks like the Tar Heels may be the frontrunner to land his services, due to their hole at running back for the 2014 recruiting class.
247Sports ranks Hood as the No. 76 recruit in the country, the No. 7 running back in the nation and the No. 4 player in North Carolina.
