After transferring from Maryland powerhouse DeMatha Catholic High to Peachtree Ridge High earlier this week, Suwanee, Ga., sophomore offensive lineman Orlando Brown will look to continue the dominance he displayed over the past two years in the Old Line State down south.

The elite 2014 prospect, whose father, also named Orlando, was a lineman in the NFL for the Cleveland Browns and Baltimore Ravens, currently has offers from Alabama, Iowa, Maryland, Notre Dame, USC and West Virginia. Instead of being satisfied with the current state of his recruitment, the massive 6-6, 300-pound prospect uses his early success as motivation to improve his game.
“Every offer I get gives me the inspiration to work harder and harder every day,” Brown said. “All of those schools are definitely at the top of my list right now. I haven’t taken any real visits yet so I can’t really separate any of them right now.”
Brown picked up his offer from the Irish after traveling to FedEx Field to watch Notre Dame’s 45-21 victory over Maryland back on November 12.
“I was able to meet a couple of the coaches and they told me I had an offer from them,” Brown said. “It’s great to have an offer from them and I’m really excited about it. I really liked watching their offensive line and I felt they played like a great unit. I’ve been told by a few players that have taken visits there that the school was like a big museum to them, which sounds real cool to me. I know that if I went there, even if I didn’t ultimately make it to the NFL, I’d be very successful in life because of what a degree from there can do for me. The name ‘Notre Dame’ holds a lot of weight behind it. Everybody knows that.”
The coveted prospect doesn’t plan on making his college decision anytime soon, but has an idea of what kind of program he would like to play for in the future.
“I definitely want to play my freshman year so I’ll be looking at the different depth charts and talking to the different coaches to see if I’ll be able to do that,” Brown said. “I also want to go somewhere that has a really good offense and a history of putting offensive linemen in the NFL.”
In the meantime, Brown wants to tour campuses across the nation to get a better feel for the programs courting him early in the process.
“I definitely want to get up to Notre Dame for maybe a Junior Day or a camp or something,” Brown said. “I’d like to do that this year if at all possible. But if I can’t, I’ll definitely do that next year.
“I also want to go and see USC and Iowa – [Hawkeye head coach] Kirk Ferentz has already invited me to Iowa, so I could go up there during a Junior Day or during the summer time. I also definitely want to go and visit Penn State and Ohio State.”
