BlueandGold.com received word that Rochester, N.Y., defensive lineman Jarron Jones had given his pledge to the Irish on Monday night, making 14 verbal commitments for the 2012 recruiting class.
The 6-6, 300-pound Aquinas Institute player was previously committed to Penn State, but decided to step away from his initial decision after taking an unofficial visit to Notre Dame.
The Irish moved into a strong position for his pledge and was able to maintain due to the efforts of defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Bob Diaco, and Jones felt the urge to give his pledge.
The mother of the 247Sports five-star recruit, No. 3 defensive tackle in the land, No. 1 player in New York and No. 23 overall prospect nationally also confirmed the commitment with BlueandGold.com recruiting writer Will Biggers.
Jones later announced his decision via Twitter (@Black_Magic_JMJ).
"I'm taking my talents to #southbend #goirish #allin," he wrote.
