Notre Dame Pro Day: Chris Salvi
Chris Salvi was determined to make an impact on the Notre Dame football team when he transferred from Butler University in the summer of 2008. After sitting out the 2009 campaign, the 5-10, 185-pound walk-on appeared in nine games for the Fighting Irish in 2010, registering two tackles on special teams.
He continued to fight, which comes naturally to the Lake Forest, Ill., product, who won his 188-pound division at the 2012 Bengal Bouts, and tallied 10 more tackles in 13 games in 2011 as a junior — his signature stick was leveling two Michigan State players and freeing George Atkinson III on an 89-yard kickoff return for a touchdown.
Salvi, the fourth of five brothers, which includes fellow former walk-on, Will Salvi, was awarded a scholarship prior to the 2012 campaign, and had six tackles during Notre Dame’s renaissance 12-1 season.
