Blankenship Heading To South Bend

247Sports rates The Colony (Texas) standout Grant Blankenship as the No. 23 defensive end nationally.

The Colony (Texas) defensive end Grant Blankenship picked up a Notre Dame offer on his visit to South Bend on June 24 and it took only two weeks for the 6-5, 235-pound prospect to commit to the Irish.

247Sports national analyst Steve Wiltfong was first to report the commitment of Blankenship, who made it official shortly after 7 p.m. on Friday.

Blankenship has a very good frame and will have no issues adding additional weight. He's an athletic, strong prospect with a quick first step off the edge. He will need to continue to increase his hand usage and get better at physically overpowering his defenders, but he does a very good job of using his speed to get after the quarterback.

247Sports ranks Blankenship as the No. 23 defensive end in the country and the No. 70 overall prospect in Texas.
