Woodberry (Va.) Forest 2014 linebacker Greer Martini confirms with 247Sports that he committed to Notre Dame on Monday.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound Martini earned an offer from the Irish last week at Notre Dame's camp.
"I came back home and talked to my parents and we couldn't think of a better place to be than Notre Dame," Martini said. "With the combination of academics and athletics, I figured I should commit now and my heart is set on it."
From the same school that produced Notre Dame class-of-2012 signee C.J. Prosise, Martini will play inside linebacker for the Irish. He became the first commit for Notre Dame in the class of 2014 after he gave the good news to Irish assistant coach Scott Booker.
"I think it was the traditions there at Notre Dame are rich and there is so much history," Martini said. "I definitely wanted to be part of that. I grew up watching Notre Dame football and never thought I'd have the opportunity to play there. I knew when they offered me that's what I wanted to do."
As a sophomore, Martini earned First Team All-State. He also had early offers from Maryland and N.C. State.
