Woodberry Forest (Va.) outside linebacker Doug Randolph removed his year-long pledge to Stanford this week and was ready to make his next choice between Notre Dame and Virginia before the start of his senior season on Friday night.
While trying to keep the focus on his team and quarterback, who suffered a leg amputation and is getting back to the gridiron, the 6-3, 220-pound four-star player opted to announce his decision at 1:15 p.m. via a report on BlueandGold.com.
"I committed to Notre Dame," the nation's No. 18 outside linebacker and No. 14 prospect in Virginia reported after arranging the announcement plan on Friday night.
Randolph is the fifth linebacker commitment for Notre Dame's 20-man 2013 recruiting haul.
