Class of 2015 Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian Academy offensive tackle Jerry Tillery
Notre Dame got its Class of 2015 off to a big start with the new commitment of Shreveport (La.) Evangel Christian Academy offensive tackle Jerry Tillery.
The 6-5, 315-pound prospect pledged to the Irish coaching staff today and it was a dream come true for the rising junior.
Tillery spoke to BlueandGold.com in early June when Notre Dame first offered and he said that the offer was big for him and his family.
“I couldn’t believe it and my parents were really excited for me,” noted Tillery. “They grew up Notre Dame fans and really wanted the coaches to offer me at some point. I spoke to (defensive backs) Coach (Kerry) Cooks and he let me know that I had a scholarship to Notre Dame. It’s just a surreal feeling. I don’t really have one leader yet, but the Notre Dame offer is a big deal. I’ve always been a huge Notre Dame, so it’s really awesome for my childhood dream to come true.”
Tillery is the first commitment for the Notre Dame Class of 2015.
247Sports ranks Tillery as a four-star prospect with a 94 rating. He is listed as the No. 74 overall recruit in the country, the No. 5 offensive tackle and the No. 3 player in Louisiana.
