Brian Kelly is seeking his first victory at Notre Dame against a top-10 ranked team, while the Irish overall are trying to break a seven-year drought.

Today, Sept. 10, marks the seventh anniversary of a disconcerting streak that Notre Dame wants to snap this Saturday night at Michigan State.

It's articles like this that make the subscription to this site worthwhile for me.
ND needs a 4-0 September terribly. It would answer so many questions, plus end the streaks vs Michigan and against top 10 teams as well as set us up for an unbeaten home slate for the first time this century.
I hope our OL is up to the task in East Lansing. The game will be won/lost on them.

The Irish offensive and defensive fronts will determine if the Irish win this game.The offensive line must protect Golson and allow us to have some semblance of a running game and the defensive front seven must slow down Bell.

After all is said and done, that trip to Ireland took the edge off the team. How long did it take you to "bounce back" after back-to-back transcontinental flights with an agenda of playing a football game and all the pomp and circumstance?
We should be back in routine and in good shape saturday for MSU.

Great read Lou, we really need to start winning games against quality opponents. Until we do we will not get any national respect and we will stay stuck in neutral.

how about the streak of being beaten by at least one Michigan team in a season? When was the last time we beat both Michigan teams? I honestly don't even remember.

It happened in 2004, Ty Willingham's last season. After losing to BYU in the opener, ND came back home to defeat top-10 MIchigan (28-20) and then forced six turnovers to win at MSU (31-24).

A decade ago, Ty Willingham's first season in 2002 when Sports Illustrated anointed him as "The Savior of South Bend," after a 4-0 start.
ND began the season 8-0 and rose to No. 4 before losing to Boston College, and three of the last five overall, to finish 10-3.

Can't disagree.
And our young QB needs to get rid of the ball a little faster. But the D lineman can't be running past our O line like they did a couple of times against PU.
And our secondary should be focused on passes, while the front 7 gobble up their running game.
Let's hope, anyway.

Great article, Lou. This is so much more to us than a game to prove who we are this season. This is what helps us set our legacy moving forward. We can do it, if our minds are in the right place. I was watching the legacy videos on nd.125.edu and reminded of Lou's relaxation sessions - hoping the OL especially does some of their own this Friday night. We are....ND.
