Former Notre Dame tight end and 2012 Mackey Award winner Tyler Eifert fielded questions from the media Friday at the NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis. Eifert finished his Fighting Irish career with 140 receptions for 1,840 yards and 11 touchdowns, including 50 catches for 685 yards and four scores as a senior last fall.
The 6-foot-6, 251-pounder became Notre Dame's all-time leader in receptions by a tight end with 134, breaking Ken MacAfee's 35-year-old record (128), and he broke MacAfee's record for most receiving yards by a tight end with 1,779 yards this season. MacAfee had 1,760 career receiving yards.
Eifert, who said he had met with nearly every NFL team (either officially or unofficially) prior to the combine, talked about areas needing improvement, what sets him apart, Manti Te’o and responded to other questions posed Friday.
