I hope the Irish red shirt Gunner and give him a year to get acclimated to the college game.He has a bright future at ND.A final thought Les Miles is an idiot.

Do all the football players live in one dorm now? When I was at ND from '87 to '91 an athletic dorm was not allowed by the Administration. We had some great football players in Flanner Hall like Mike Heldt, Derreck Brown, Aaron Taylor and others. Just wondering?

No way.
The track record of starting freshmen QB's is not very good, regardless of recruiting rankings.
I'll pass, and go with someone that has been practicing and working with the receivers for a couple of years.
For now.
Kiel's time will come, if he lives up to the hype.

They stay together in one dorm (O'Neill Hall) I believe until school starts then they go back to their assigned hall. Dillon Hall or nothing at all! Go Big Red!

No way. Part of the Notre Dame mantra around football players is that they are part of the student experience, not just an athletic one. It is one of the great things for them. They live with and interact with kids that are just there to go to school, not play a sport. I hope they never change that.

As Frawls said, all players - even those that little in off-campus apartments - move into one of the dorms for training camp.They'll move out and spread across in about 10 days when freshman orientation begins and the rest of the student body starts to show up on campus.

I believe by your senior year, if you have a required grade-point average, football players can live off campus if they so desire.

I am really impressed that he brought a white board with him and that he and the freshman receivers meet and discuss 5 routs, reads, etc. each night.
That is a very powerful learning method, and it shows great "intellectual" leadership from a bunch of freshmen.

I think after a year in the system and getting up to speed it will be him that finally takes over this position. Just my opinion.

I say give him a couple more months, even if he stood out right now, to digest all of the stuff that comes with actual live game play. Watching teams adjust (which most dont in high school) on defense as the game wears on. Knowing the playbook. Audibling into and out of set formations etc. Then if he stands out in say October and no one else has cemented themselves, then you give him a shot. Otherwise wait until next year.
