Kelly addressed this. When we were expecting mostly runs, we were in man to man. We switched to a cover 2 zone scheme when they started passing, and it started working a lot better. I don't think we're going to run as much man to man in the regular season, but because the safeties are needed to defend the option, we left the corners on islands.

Like stated earlier in the week, the starting part is overrated at receiver and running back. Guys will be shuffling in and out. Couldn't get a count of how many plays each individual is in. ND used to supply it after games to us, but indicated it doesn't want opponents to keep count either — or at least make them work for it.

I did see Farley line more up at OLB, and then Slaughter was the safety coming over on the TD pass by Navy. It surprised me a little because I thought Slaughter would be their swing man in so many areas.

I put up on a separate thread the participation chart ND had — although our Dan Murphy handled the list for kickoff coverage and kickoff return units.

Regarding minutes played, we always used to get that from ND through 2009. In 2010, we suggested that they change it to snap count to make it easier. They did, and we were supplied that information each week.

Unfortunately, last year there was so mix up with some of the snaps and they were never released to us formally. Later, I was told that it seems the staff would rather not have it out for public consumption. I'm not sure why because opponents get game tape each week. Maybe they want them to at least work for it?

In any case, I will try again this week to see if snap counts can be made available each game. I won't hold my breath on that one, but you don't know unless you ask. I've been enough of a squeaky wheel at times to get the grease.
