247Sports: Tommy Tuberville left visiting recruits at dinner

  • 96domer said...

What logical interpretation would lead you to believe the Bearcat fan base approves of what Tuberville did? He is leaving his team high and dry just as Kelly did.

The logical interpretation which is based on what the poster actually said, and not on how someone else wants to contort the words to support a point he's been making for the past three years. Seriously, parse the sentence and explain to me how the poster's point was about the coaches and not the fans. The first half is about what fans thought about Kelly. The second half is what they think about Tuberville. "Fans thought" = common denominator.

If you have issues with Kelly, fine. Start your own thread, but don't misinterpret or twist another poster's words to further your issue.

  • Couple of things:

    1) Please, oh please, Notre Dame recruits -- no Christmas Day decisions.

    2) I'd like to see the film of a kid averaging "7 or 8" pancakes a game...

Doesn't really relate to the story, but felt the need to say that.

I've never filmed myself but I could average way more than 7 or 8 pancakes a game.

In a game? Sure. But average per game all season? I have to question the competition level.

So......this makes what Kelly did to the University of Cincinnati football players ok?

I don't think Kelly left a dinner table while hosting recruits on a visit.....did he?....No...we don't even know if this story about TT is true. If your point is that Kelly left between the last regular season game and the bowl game, what is your solution? We see how critical recruiting is right now. Should Kelly have stayed? Clearly, we see that the players are left without a coach at a critical time but I don't see a solution. I don't like it but I don't think it can be avoided. Having said all that, still big difference between what Kelly did and Tuberville (if the story is true)

I think Kelly should have coached his kids in that bowl game. He should have been there for them. Ham on Rye doesn't think it was a big deal that Kelly left them high and dry. We teach our kids to follow through on commitments. I get hammered for saying this about Kelly but I know most of you feel what he did was wrong. I think even Kelly would admit he could have handled it better. I am happy for our football program and where we are today. I will be in the stands at the NC game cheering my head off for the team. I spent 3 tours in the Middle East where the word 'commitment' is sometimes the difference between life and death to troops.

For the record I can knock down about 20 of those silver dollar pancakes per sitting. Now Johnny cakes that's a different story.

I will say this... from a "football only" standpoint I think the Bearcats seriously downgraded after losing Butch Jones and hiring Tubs. I've been saying it for years...Tuberville simply isn't that great of football coach. Butch Jones on the other hand, is top flight in my opinion.

I'd say it really depends on how long Tuberville will stick around. Cincy's problem is it was becoming a stepping stone job.

Now being a stepping stone is fine as long as you keep making the correct hire.

If I was the Cincy AD I think I would have either gone with Tom O'Brien, Luke Fickell, or Skip Holtz.

Kelly would have been embarressed by UF.

You can't wear two caps at once as the HC at ND and Cincy.

One of the jobs is going to suffer. I think ND suffered a bit when CW was OC at NE and the HC at ND. If he could have focused soley on ND I'm sure he would have had a better staff.

And if I was the Cincy AD I would have told CBK to F*** Off. I dont think you ever let a Coach leaving your program for another college job to Coach the rest of your games. Promote an Ast. your interested in and get a look at what he can do.

Oh, I don't know Ham, logical analysis of your previous comments on this board for starters.

I'm afraid your track record with that kind of analysis doesn't even get you started.

For the record, I partly agree with your sentiment on the subject. I don't think it's nearly as black and white as you suggest, but I don't fully disagree with you. My issue with you on this thread is how you misconstrued a poster's intent.
