Happy Birthday to one of the greatest coaches ever!!
2 time POTW winner on some dates I can't remember from 2yrs ago at BNG,
POTW: 1/3/11- 1/9/11, 6/20/11-6/26/11
Coach Parseghian, Happy Birthday! Thanks for all the fond memories. Your accomplishments personally and professionally have left their mark in the history of Notre Dame football and in life.
Happy Birthday and God Bless
“This is that time when you say winning’s a choice.“
Simply the best. Happy Birthday, Coach.
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
Happy Birthday, Coach! How I long for the Good Old Days. You are right, Lou. We didn't appreciate how good he was at the time. Great Coach, Great Man, Super Role Model. Long live Ara !!!
Happy Birthday Coach! A loss (even one) would linger with me for a year! I didn't realize how good we had it back then. Again. Happy Birthday!
The only negative in his ND career is that he retired WAY too soon. Blessings to coach on his special day.
My luck w/the Irish 20-6...GO IRISH!!!
Is Coach Ara in reasonably good health?
At 89, you're not going to be in optimal shape, but he still seems to be in very good spirits, and his recall remains pretty sharp.
The funny thing with him is when you review some of his 95 victories here, he's a little sketchy and not certain. But you ask him about any of the 17 losses ... man he can give a play-by-play of every little detail. Then great ones are often like that.
Lou thanks for the article.
Happy Birthday Coach Parseghian
from one grateful to have been in
6-Time POTW Winner, 4 time at BGI and 2 at 24/7
A truly beloved man ! Did he ever receive an honorary monogram jacket ?
Happy Birthday to Ara!
Two time Poster of The Week, 2011 and 2013.
The classic example of a true notre dame man.as time has went by I realize now how we took his accomplishments for granted.happy birthday coach ara.
He was named an honorary Notre Dame alumnus in 1974.
Happy Birthday Coach. Many, many thanks.
thk u coach 4 those 11 wonderful years may god bless u & your wonderful family, iwill never forget what u did for notre dame & the football program. lou v
I met Ara when he spoke at our parochial school 8th grade tackle football banquet and he was at Northwestern. He had chrisma then as he always did at Notre Dame. I am betting that he still has that special quality at 89. Happy Birthday, Coach, you have always made Notre Dame fans proud.

Gosh did you spoil these Sons of Notre Dame!! I remember three of us freshmen walking up the stairs at the Rock in our little gym outfits - all in a row. Ara was walking down the steps at the same time. All of us looked. All of us knew who he was. None of us could say a word. I could hardly catch my breath. It was the Fall of '67 but I will never forget it.
Even @ 89 you gotta believe that Ara could stop the losing!
Ara was the best he knew how to coach the right way happy birthday Ara!
Belated happy birthday wishes to Coach Parseghian. He made his mark at ND in more than just football.
