Total crap. This ruling may conform to the rules, but the NCAA needs to change their rules. Abro took a legitimate redshirt year (for which he was already penalized with a four-game suspension earlier this year), then lost another year to a legitimate season-ending injury. Rather than have a perfect role model for what a student athlete should be, the NCAA decides to deny a guy who has never done anything but the right thing at every turn with class and grace. What a shame.

Then again, there's no doubt that Abro will be just fine, with an amazing future in front of him. Good luck Tim and thanks for the memories!

Tim A is the definition of a student athlete. He will be successful in whatever he decides to do. ND will miss him

The NCAA is a complete joke

This is a total crock of you know what. I am the worlds first proponent of 7 and done. If the NCAA or anyone can condone one and done then why would 7 and done not make sense. It would provide true student athletes to the system as long as kids are staying on course to grad school. What's wrong with keeping kids with academic ambitions in school and have limited ability to play in the NBA or Europe. It would be the great equalizer for the one and done chirade.
Who loses in that scenario? Kids remain students, the university spends less on recruiting and the system does what it's supposed to do. EDUCATE the kid!

I would be able to take my team of 21-24 year old students and stand on equal ground with the Kentucky's of the world. Which scenario is more symbolic of the true intention of college?

Abro is a fine man and player - wish him all the best. He had an impact on the 2011 season when he went down EVERYONE knew ND was in a bad place yet the team stepped it up and Abro was always there rooting the team on and giving out pointers to the young men stepping up - he IS a class act. GO IRISH!
