    By my calculation (as reported in B&G), we had 23 open spots assuming the 3 must have 5th year holdovers. Regardless of when they enroll, when we get to the season, we can have 85 on scholly. We've now added Amir, and since he's not in the 2012 recruiting class, just count his as another holdover. That leaves 22 open spots, regardless of whether they are new commits for 2012 or more transfers. So we should still have 4 spots open. Lot of awesome options for those 4 spots, but it could still include both Armsteads with 2 remaining slots in a class that is destined to be the next great class in the return to ND to prominence. Seems to me that there are some recruits that might want to consider whether they still want to sit on the fence. In fact, some of them may have already found that they are boxed out.

    Plus, we get excellent info from the B&G team, but from totally inside the organization, there may be things that we are not privvy to that could make the final number of available slots a little different than what it appears from our perspective.

  • Incredible pickup for the Irish. What does this mean for Russell though? Staying at RB? Switching to WR? Then that would mess with our recruitment of Neal and Westerkamp..

    Really appreciate the info staff. Now a little more on how he'll fit would be really appreciated. We went from really needing RB's to having a stockpile. With him having 3/4 years left, how will that affect the recruiting of 2013 RB's Ty Isaac and Ryan Green? Do we just take one now? Do you expect transfers from guys like Cam and Cam who went from probable ball carriers to buried on the depth chart?

  • What about Wright? I'm assuming at this point, it's a first come, first serve commit set up. They wouldn't alter one of them to a conditional offer, would they?

  • My wish list for the last 4 spots would be Armstead brothers, Wright, and Westerkamp. This would solidify a top 3 recruiting class. Still have 3 weeks a lot can happen.

  • does anybody else LOVE this kid for leaving USC and coming to ND? what a slap in the face. i hope we beat USC every single year we have him. over on the USC board, people are saying that he's lucky he got 1 win in the rivalry because he wont get anymore.

  • How's Cam Roberson coming along? I like the option of a strong interior rushing back ala Jonas. It appears that these backs are not that type of rusher - am I missing something here? Do like the Amir pickup. GO IRISH!!

  • I better see 10 w's and 3 l's next season with all this talent, all be freshman and soph's. BK mishanlded the QB situation all the way. He just needs to shove all his chips to golson and let it fly cause Ree god love him can't do anything by himself. BK just have already walked up to golson and said make it happen, its your turn now. I know now BK was worried about how it would look if his 2nd season was a 6-6 hurt locker thanks to a kid (hendrix) who never started a game. Next season with all this talent and all this speed coming in its time to cut bait and hand the offense over to someone for which it is designed.

    Everrett no pressue but i expect big things outta you and so do alot of other people, you better impress or your going to be looking for the next man in, for yourself.

  • Why is everyone wanting Armsteads brother for one year? I hope Arik chooses ND but I don't think ND needs to waste a scholly on his brother. If he was so good that Kiffin didn't play him last year then I don't think he is any better than what we have.

    He wasn't cleared by the medical staff to play. He's a potential 2/3 round pick.

    That is true...but that also appears to be why he wants to leave. Apparently he and his dad thought he should have been cleared to play. I just don't think we need him.

    It's a package deal and his brother would be a very valuable rotation player for our DL. I have no problem bringing him on for a year.
