Former Notre Dame outside linebacker Andre Jones (1987-90), the father of current sophomore Irish wide receiver TJ Jones, died Wednesday morning.
How quick was that? Very, very sad. TJ will find out now what Notre Dame family is all about. May he rest in peace.

Any idea on cause? So sad...so young.

Two time Poster of The Week, 2011 and 2013.
It was from a brain aneurysm suffered the previous night. I added that to the main story.
It's very sad. I was here when he played for the Irish and he was always such a model representative of the school. When I gave him a call after his son committed, he was a married father of five and quite successful professionally, yet he still called me "Mr. Somogyi." Man, did that make me feel old.
Sorry to hear the sad news. Thoughts and prayers to TJ, other family members and friends.
As someone who lost my mom right when I got out of college, my heart bleeds for T.J. Thankfully, I'm sure he has a great support system in place. So sad. Prayers are with the Jones family.
My luck with the Irish: 4-5, 3-time POTW
6-Time POTW Winner, 4 time at BGI and 2 at 24/7
So sad to lose him so young. He was a great representative of the University.
I watched him play during my college years as well and remember particularly watching him play on that NC team of '88 and subsequent seasons.

Tragic loss and my thoughts and prayers go out to the Jones family.
A sad day for the Irish. Thoughts and prayers go out to the Jones family. TJ do your father proud and bring a title back, just as he did.
Just devastating news. It is so unfair when something like this happen to great human beings and role models like Andre. Just reminds you every day how fragile life is. I hope Andre is welcomed into heaven with open arms and that his wife and five children find the courage to deal with this irreparable and crushing loss.
My thoughts and sympathies go out to the Jones Family on this very tragic day.
