Blue and Gold still the Oasis in the desert of message boards ?

  • When I sought refuge here at B&G many many moons ago I was a weary veteran of the board wars, being a member of all the major boards I was beaten and bruised as I battled daily the hordes of people on those boards that feasted on any opinion not their own or even ridiculed a poster for spelling or grammar.

    I rarely posted other places because the sanctimonious better than the next guy posters would get into a feeding frenzy over what was wrong with my opinion or my low post count meant I was an idiot ( not far from the truth)

    I landed here and posted my first time and low and behold not only did I not get beaten up but I got welcomed with open arms by the old guard , great posters and people like Ham, Hodges,Edoyle,IFR and JBP welcomed me and encouraged my involvement

    I fell in love with this place and the people involved here , some of the greats have left Dan the Gold standard Silver and the like but this staff is second to none in this market and that keeps me here for the content.

    What this board had then was civility , comradery and most importantly respect for each other !

    So as you wander the vast wasteland of ND boards always remember that this is an oasis for the weary poster where he or she can post their thoughts without being beaten silly for those opinions

    I will request we all put the 10 second rule into effect on post we don't like read it count 10 before attacking and please attack content not poster

    Well said.

    It needed to be asked.

    However the blog barbarians

    care only for their verbal victories,

    and care nothing, are clueless ,

    just as the actual barbarians who precipitated the dark ages.

    The ones who need this request who need to practice civility

    won't see they too will suffer the nothingness they make,

    when the is board is insufferable.

  • I like very little moderation.

    If someone is willing to post their opinion, it should be substantive, and they should be willing to defend it against disagreements. In addition, if someone posts an opinion that is idiotic, they deserve the vitriol that comes their way.

    I believe that everyone is entitled to their opinion. However, I don't believe that anyone is entitled to protection from board mods.

    I recently left a ND site that I was a member of for ten years because of the micromanaging of the message boards. I hope that the discussions here are allowed to be a liitle more free.

    I miss those guys, Tax. I find that the voices have very much changed on this board since 24/7 took over. But we always have Lou and Jason, and even the chocolate milk swilling John Haynesworth.

    i am hoping with the start of football season we will see a return of IFR Paddy and the rest

    the staff here is second to none, i mean Jason is the best around and the maturation of Steve Wiltfong wow this board has it covered

    for years we were that great bar in a big city that only the locals new about, the merge with 24/7 has opened up the doors to many new patrons doesnt make it bad just different

    any place we get a guy Lou S its worth it all

    I forgot to say "I don't like change".

    This place is still the best site around, which is why I have continued my subscription for like the 20th year now, but it is different.
    I'm sure the season will bring back the old school guys, or at least I hope so.
