Glad to have Coach Brey for the rest of his career. Or at least until he is fired (see Charlie Weis' 10-year extension).
Seriously, Brey is perfect for ND, and gets the most out of his players. And recently, the recruiting is picking up, so that we might have to raise our expectations accordingly, if this keeps up.

this is good move by the university.Coach Brey is a credit to Notte Dame.His teams compete well in a tough league and his players graduate.My only criticism would be a lack of victories in the NCAA tourney

I'm happy for Brey, he is a good guy and all (so was John MacLeod, Doherty, Faust, Willingham, CW, etc) ....but. To me this is a signal of "ND basketball...as good as it gets."
Clearly my opinion means nothing, nor should it, Swarbrick is far more qualified to hand out extensions, but from my perspective as a fan, I don't understand.
Brey is as cookie cutter as it gets, over-achieve in the regular season, and mostly fail when it matters most. He has had 1 sweet sixteen appearance (2002-03) in 12 years, just 1.
The rest of his work is littered with 1st or 2nd round bow outs in the NCAA and the years they didn't qualify for the big dance, they would bow out in round 1 or 2 of the NIT.
I just seem to think that there is more upside to the ND program than what Brey has offered. Clearly the people that matter most disagree.
