CW to florida

  • will be named OC at florida.

dang. florida is going to be sick.

    pacificendo

  • consider this:

the offensive schemeing he does. as an OC (not head coach)
and his silly ability to recruit.

oh man florida is going to dominate. dang.

    pacificendo

  • Yes, a great hire. He is a great OC and will be able to recruit the most elite offensive skill players as an OC.

  • With all the responsibilities he puts on the qb in his offense, he better have an elite qb. He's a great offensive mind, but I think he's better suited at the NFL level where his guys can work non-stop. I'm not sure if Brantley is an elite qb.

  • i dont think this is going to work for him. nd was routinely without any emotion under charlie. i think he is going to regret leaving pro football. also thing his ego is too big to be told what to do.

  • So now Florida has a head coach with no experience, and he has to manage an ego maniac coordinator that thinks he is smarter than everyone. I could care less, but I don't know how this is a good thing for Florida.

  • CW's offense at ND was never the problem.

keep him as OC and he will dominate. and we all know he will recruit florida so dang hard.
    he is a silly recruiter.

  • It looks really good on paper.

things like this rarely live up to the hype.

I really enjoy the Gator fans "dissing" Urban and praising Weis.

Again, the Univ of Fla tends to operate under the assumption that football was created in 1996.

First time head coach who's intense, replacing a man who won two NCs for them, and bringing in an giant ego of an OC?

Hell, why not go get Tenuta to be the DC.

I'll await announcing this the dream team of coaching.

  • Honestly this is one of those things that really pisses me off. I have hated Florida for taking Meyer from us, but this will send me to a new level of hatred. Weis is a complete a*hole if he takes this job knowing how his alma mater feels about this program. I will no longer have any respect for this man if he chooses to take this role.

I honestly wish I could disagree with you, but I cannot. If he leaves the NFL and go to Florida, I will lose a lot of respect. It will be interesting to see how he will recruit against ND if he does take the position.

  • If it takes this Job he loves money more than ND!!! That is for sure!! This is a lateral move NOT a vertical move!! If it was for the HC position than I could understand somewhat but this is WRONG in all ways!!

  • His poor son is going to take even more riducule down there. Hey, he's doing what he thinks his right for hos family. We still have our right manWouldn't it be great to beat them in a NC game??

    Could not agree more!!thumbsup
Has Weis forgotten how badly Florida under Meyer trashed him during recruiting? I guess that it really is all about the money with Charlie. Go Figure....

  • A friend of mine at ND who spent a lot of time near coach Weis said he had a really horrible disposition on top of being cocky and generally pissing off people he came in contact with. The Bill Parcells approach to etiquette will not go over well in the south, he better learn some manners or his stay in Florida will be a short one.

  • CW is a terrible college coach; it will be fun watching Florida flounder; this hire makes no sense based on the inept performance of CW at ND.

  • I actually think it has potential to be a very good hire. The certainty about Charlie Weis is that he's not a good head coach. But he's proven to be a good soldier as an assistant coach in his career, loyal to his head coaches. And as an offensive coordinator, he works well under solid defensive coaches.

Whether Will Muschamp is as good a head coach as he was a defensive coordinator remains to be seen. But with someone else in charge of running the program, and making personnel decisions, Weis could thrive at the college game, like Norm Chow.

It's not a bad hire if Muschamp wants a pro-style offense, and that staff certainly wouldn't get outworked, in the film room or on the recruiting trail.

  • I can't believe the responses on this board from the Weis bashers, from Charlie's a traitor and its all about money to he's a lousy coach. Who know's Charlie that well to know his motivation, maybe he prefers developing college kids rather than dealing with the pofessionals? IMO the hatred for Florida was a hatred for Urban Meyer so to think he shouldn't consider a job at a program where Urban is not the Head Football is idiotic. Finally if you want to say he was a terrible college head coach that is one thing but to say he is a terrible college coach is another.

I think many forget what Charlie did for this program and that he was one of the few that was willing to take the Head Coaching job when so many turned it down. He proved N.D. can win again and can recruit elite athletes. He got Notre Dame people involved in the program again. I don't see him bad mouthing Notre Dame and yes I think it will impact us as far as recruiting goes.

Give him a break. Charlie, I hope you don't take the job, but if you do good luck, except when you go head to head against us.

  • for those of you who say offense was never the problem, check the offensive output of some of his inexcusable Nov losses to inferior teams and I think you will see they were a lot more like 24-17 losses than they were 50-49 losses
