We haven't heard anything to the contrary that he wouldn't be able to compete in spring ball. The only ones Brian Kelly listed as limited as of early February were Bennett Jackson and Dan Fox with shoulder surgery, and Nicky Baratti also tweeted that he was recovering from a procedure (didn't specify). Tate Nichols, of course, has been placed on a medical hardship grant-in-aid because his knee is not in good enough shape anymore to play at this level (sort of like Mike Broghammer in basketball, or RB Cam Roberson last year).

Hounshell should compete for action with Tony Springmann and Jarron Jones for time behind Stephon Tuitt and Sheldon Day at end.

Kelly will probably have his pre-spring conference next week before practice begins on Wednesday.
