A few generous Notre Dame alumni, who wish to remain anonymous, subsidized student tickets with donations. School spokesman Dennis Brown said one person donated $300,000, which sliced student rates from $300 to $150. Other gifts totaling roughly $100,000 have been given to offset the cost of student activities in Miami.

Here's what irritates me. Season ticket holders at both schools have to hope to win lotteries for less than half the seats in the stadium. Who gets the other 40k or so tickets? Places like StubHub who makes about 2k per ticket? Corporate sponsors? Scalpers on the street? The schools should get more than 17k tix. Let real fans go to the game.

Perhaps forgoing my regular Sorin Society donation for next year.... Bitter, I know but that was the first thought when I got lotto results. I won't do that but it did suck. Hotel booked, car will be packed for a 2 day drive from Chicago... it will all be up to Gods grace to find some tix! I did have a laugh with my parents about selling all the stuff they're complaining about sitting in their basement last 12 years... Massive sale!!! Haha!
