Thought I'd throw together a new list. Before the 2 recent transfers I had ND taking 21, but said it could be even 22. Well now I'm going with 23-man Class. Here is my 'Wish List'...... Any opinions or suggestions, or add your own list.
QB - Need 1, Taking 1
Not convinced Dawkins will be the guy, I'd rather take an athletic project like Cunningham, but I won't slot him unless he gets an offer.
RB - Need 1-2, Taking 1
Taking it slow isn't necessarily the best thing we could have asked for but its not bad either. He will visit with his parents, hopefully soon, and I believe he will still be Irish. With our haul last year, 1 big back type would be ideal, but you wouldn't want to turn down a Michel or Starks. I'm not sure how much Starks likes ND either, so I didn't put him on this list. Taking bodies at RB is never a bad thing, they are generally versatile athletes such as Carlisle, Folston, Russell, etc...
WR - Need 3-4, Taking 4
Increasingly becoming and more and more important position group. This wasn't a stacked position before the 2 transfers, some bodies are coming in the fall, the position lacks elite blue chip WR's, not counting starters(Daniels and TJ in this conversation). Chris Brown has speed to burn and must continue to develop. Brent provides size and athleticism and a start to the position. Andrews is a huge target and potential WR/TE like Eifert. Harris is the elite guy ND has not had since Floyd. He will be the hardest pull of this group IMO, but is by no means a stretch. ND would be a great fit for him. Samuel is a tremendous athlete with position flexibility and his best asset is speed.
TE - Need 1-2, Taking 2
This year represents an opportunity to be a little bit more selective and add depth at the same time. At first glance TE looks deep, but it really isn't, not a whole lot of bodies, to many questions, injuries, newbies and inexperience. Blazevich has been offered by elite teams and has visited. Bunting is a tremendous project who could be a steal after some time in the weight room. If Blazevich doesn't come down Weishar could be another guy in the fold. Weishar and Bunting visit on the 13th, wouldn't be surprised if 1 of them committed, obviously providing the staff lets them.
OL - Need 4+, Taking 4
Notre Dame really helped themselves with last years class and can continue that this year with a 4+ man class. I have a 2/2 Class of Tackles/Guards. Byrne is an excellent Guard Candidate and Mustipher seems to be high on the staffs list. Smith and Bars are both big outstanding Tackles prospects. Losing McDermott hurts, but there are still options out there.
DL - Need 4+ Taking 5
Another very important position groups considering 2 of the 3 starters could be gone to the NFL via the NFL draft in the 1st round. That kind of talent is not easily replaceable. few DL prospects are ready to compete right away, but McDowell just might be that type, just like Vanderdoes might be and Tuitt was. Frazier possibly the hardest target on this list is one of the best, but also maybe the most important as he is a pure NT and has +size and very good athleticism. Hayes and Trumbetti are great prospects for the system and Holley is another great looking prospect who is very green having just really starting the sport. IMO Holley has a chance to be special, I REALLY want this kid to be Irish. This 5-line class would be right up there with the Tuitt, Williams, Lynch Class IMO. McDowell and Frazier being the hardest gets. Enoch Smith is another potential DT/NT prospect who is visiting soon, whether or not he is able to commit, we may just find out soon. Khairi Clark seems to like ND, but until he visits ND, I'm not going to hold my breath. Hand is a no go, Carter seems to be a no go as well. Craig Evans is another pure NT type, not as good as Frazier IMO, but still a guy to keep an eye on.
ILB - Need 2-3, Taking 2
Question Marks, there is not much depth on the roster, lots of attrition to come next year, not much helping coming in with only Deeb slated for ILB, unless Randolph is moved inside. Brandon Lee seemed to be a good ILB prospect, fast, has the frame to be the type of ILB Diaco likes. ND hasn't offered and Lee cancelled his visit for a Junior Day. Does that signal and end to that avenue? Not a lot of offers have been extended for a position that really at absolute minimum needs 2, but more so needs 3 guys. You look down the list and there is not a lot of options so far, Morgan would be a great ILB and big pickup, at this point he is a very important recruit. Position looked ugly after Anzalone bolted, and still does not look good.
OLB - Need 2, Taking 2
Andrew Williams has been told he is the #1 target, and for good reason. Has a great frame, athleticism and on the field is a freak pass rusher. Coming from the same school as his good buddy Rochell is huge as well. Would slide into the CAT with Okwara(assuming he is moved from DOG) down the line. 2nd guy in this class could be Bates or another LB like him, what ever the staff is looking for.
DB - Need 2-3, Taking 2
-Kyle Gibson or Nick Watkins -
Midwest roots, ND will need a top notch corner, its not a stretch but it won't be easier. Jackson would give ND an elite corner. Maybe not the size Diaco and co would prefer but his skills and athleticism are off the charts. Gibson and Watkins are athletic bigger corners who can cover. No safety taken, although if ND went after Peppers harder, he could be either position

I know Star, but why not dream? I love Dupre. Top WR on the board IMO. Tucker isn't going to be recruited by us? Wow...

Heard something about Mustipher and Nelson being the next to possibly commit. If they get these two guys, it will probably put the heat on Barrs to commit.
many heartfelt thanks to those who put these lists out.
My only observations from the peanut gallery are that I think we need to take 5OL this year (remembering the recent attrition with Carrico/Prestwood/Nichols)
AND I AM NOT %U^^K*&nG GIVING UP ON BRADEN SMITH!!!!!! My ND football lust lust for Braden Smith is non-negotiable!!
And, while you're worrying about other things, just think how cool it is that Quick and Starks will be lurking around the ND football fields and facilities and rubbing elbows
with Trestman, Lewis, and Belichick. You never get a second chance to make a first impression.
This seems like jiggafini, ND guy in FL and Vinny G are ready to throw down just like in the final scene of "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" Now, I'll go out on a limb
here and suggest we're overloaded in bad and ugly, and still short on Good!
