Sporting News ranked their 124 best college coaches in order yesterday. Kelly came in at No. 18, two slots ahead of Lane Kiffin at USC.
Bob Stoops and Bronco Mendenhall were the only two coaches that will face the Irish this year that are ranked higher than Kelly.
Charlie Weis - No. 40
Skip Holtz - No. 56
George O'Leary - No. 72
Bob Davie - No. 96
Charley Molnar - No. 124

Weis 40? Hmm...not sure I agree with that. Hasn't done much as a head coach.
3 time POTW
Two trips to the BCS is more than most coaches have on their resume. In the rankings he falls between Rich Rodriguez (success at one spot, failure at another) and Art Briles (mediocrity for a while, then RGIII came along). I think that's pretty fair.
Lane Kiffin ranked in the top 20 of all FBS coaches is a joke.
Mark Dantonio is #13
I agree that yes he went to 2 BCS games but not really with his recruits. Granted he coached with what he had, but he did have some talented guys there. It's just that when those guys were gone, huge decline happened. Maybe wait a couple more years on Charlie to see what he can do in Kansas. He doesn't have a very big body of work (easy on the jokes there fellas) as far as a college coach.
Dan, i guess Molnar is ranked because he had to be,lol.
Two time Poster of The Week, 2011 and 2013.
Whoops, good catch. I must have skipped over him when scanning the list. Dantonio definitely deserves to be up there.
to be the #18 ranked coach in the country should'nt your team be a top 20 team? don't get me wrong, i hope we do well. and then it's time for bk to go somewhere, anywhere, else......
Run the ball.
Stop the run.
You win, or lose, up front.
40 is pretty high ranking for the fat guy hes a great offensive mind but he cant win in college and wont win. Skip Holtz is where i think he should be but one day in the future he will be in the top 25 I think Skip is a very underated coach.
What is your problem??
Hopefully he moves up a few slots this year
