I am taking my father in law and bro in law. We are going to get there on friday afternoon. I would like to show them the bookstore, grotto, basilica , dome, library, and stadium.
My questions are -
1. Where is the best place to park on a non game day?
2. What other sites are must see places?
3. Where do the have the heismans on display and can the public check them out ?
4. Are there any events on Friday dealing with football?
5. Finally how does a 35 year old - old fart not look like a fat kid in a candy store when I get on campus.... this will only be my 5th time on campus in the 15 some odd years I have rooted for the Irish and every time I look like an Amish kid one day one of Rumspringa...
GOD..COUNTRY..NOTRE DAME... THEN HUNTING
U gotta try and go to the hall of fame
Ohhh never that of the hall... that would be sweet... I am also thinking about a late lunch at Legends on Friday unless they would be too crazy the day before the game
.2 Rockne memorial, ACC esp second floor, may be where Heisman's are kept,
Gug if can get in, although not a must see, almost every building has something to offer
a chapel, gargoyle, globe, sailing ship, display, art, artifacts.
3. see 2
4 Und.com usually has all event info
5 Don't worry about what you look like....Enjoy..(35 ? you are a kid.)...smile from ear to ear.
I believe you can park in the library lot after 5 p.m. on Fridays. That's a pretty central location to see all the spots you mentioned. If not, you can always park in the Joyce or ND Stadium lots.
Silly question.... where is the Rockne memorial and what is the ACC.....
I was able to see BK was unveiling the shirt at 5:45 by the bookstore from the und.com site....

Rockne memorial is marble colored building at end of the south quad.
(between Fisher and Lyons dorms)
it housed the coaches through when Parseghian was at ND.
Has the Rockne bust with nose now shinny from everyone rubbing it
ACC (the maidenform memorial, ha ha, was red-pink during consteruction)
twined domed building next to football stadium. 1 Basketball arena
2 old home of hockey. I haven't seen new hockey building
which also should be neat ot see.
ACC = athletic and convocation center. Believe is the old name.
Joyce Center ??
I will definitely check both of those out...
Thx for the info
enjoy yourself my friend. There is so much to see and do on campus. I am a south bend native now living in florida, but when I return home, I head to campus first thing. The Grotto is a must, bookstore also, And Legends is a great place to eat.
Have a Ball my friend and wish i was there with you.

The Heisman trophies and the most recent national championship trophy are all on display in the main lobby of the Gug which is on the far east end of campus. I believe you can normally poke your head in and check them out.
If you're out by the grotto and up for a bit of a walk, take a lap around the lake directly behind the grotto. Lots of good views of campus from there and you can also stop and take a rest on the "Rudy bench" where he sits in the movie.
