The Minnesota Vikings liked Kyle Rudolph during his rookie season so much they decided to go and grab another former Notre Dame tight end. John Carlson, a Minnesota native, signed a 5-year deal with the Vikings today. Carlson missed all of the 2011 season after shoulder surgery in the preseason.
Rudolph was happy to hear about. He tweeted, "I always looked up to John when I decided to go to ND and now I couldn't be more excited to play next to him!"
MINNEAPOLIS John Carlson became one of the most promising young tight ends in the game in his first two seasons with the Seattle Seahawks. A shoulder injury derailed that, and now he is headed back home to get his career back on track.

I am a Lions fan, but I will root for those guys to do well. Should be nice for the Vikings to have them both on the field.
I can't wait to see them play together!

Maybe the Vikings plan to use them like the patriots use Gronkowski and Hernandez. I think that would make sense.

NIce bookends good problem to have for a team.
NFL Network kept talking about who will block cause both are pass catchers. Also saw on Twitter that Rudy is happy cause he looked up to Carlson.

That makes 3 of the Vikings 7 man line (using two tight ends) Domers. Carlson, Rudolph and Sullivan.
"Welcome to Notre Dame" - Sweeter words were never spoken.
