" Golson burned two timeouts while struggling to get his offense set on a 75-yard field goal drive. Kelly said there would have been many more problems with getting a play off in time in had he not been helping line things up from the sideline.
Part of his problem was not understanding the sideline signals and relaying them to his teammates fast enough. He’s also steps behind junior Tommy Rees and Andrew Hendrix in grasping the mechanics that make Kelly’s offense move. Those are the issues he’ll be in the lab trying to sort out this summer. "
Everett possibly coud have just been nervous. He is inexperienced, but as a QB, shouldn't he understand the signals by now ?
Obviously, these are the reasons why he has not separated himself from the competition by now.

I don't think you can effectively learn thsoe things without being in a game. Golson's laregst dose of experience has been running th scout team. I think if he plays against Navy and Purdue, those processes will slow down for him and he will be much better.. The other question, if you read and transmit the play call, take the snap in time, and then throw the ball to the other team, which is worse?
Completely agree - I think he'll be fine once he gets in game situations. Let's face it, we've already seen plenty of situations last year where guys who supposedly knew the offense and related signals cold (i.e., Crist and Rees) imploded in countless critical scenarios. TIme to move forward with Golson.
No, it does not surprise me. The question is, can he figure it out before Sept.?
