With how popular of an inquiry this has become...
-- My initial reaction was no, this won't have any bearing on how the class closes out. Now I do feel that other colleges will try to use it to negatively recruit prospects towards them over Notre Dame, but not sure of a valid argument that can be made there considering this is a situation that relates to a player, not a reflection of the university.
-- If there is any type of impact, my thoughts on it, as a parent, is that the university has backed up Manti Te'o on this, particularly Jack Swarbrick, and has shown a genuine interest in trying to help the Irish star through this controversy. Many are waiting for Te'o to speak, including myself, but in the meantime, it has been an example to parents of a recruit that the institution is one that they can comfortable entrust their child to. Notre Dame could've cut ties in fear of being directly associated with the alleged hoax and left Te'o out there to fend for himself in all of this while he looks to make the next step in his athletic career.
-- Based on my immediate conversations with commits and targets, the tone of them haven't been a case of "I want to get out there and get some answers". There has been a great deal of support, even from commits from other programs - including 2014 Michigan OL commit Denzel Ward, but as everyone knows there are more voices out there anti-Notre Dame than pro.
-- I don't feel this question can be fully answered until Te'o gets his time in front of a camera to answer the remaining questions, which are quite a few, to see if there's any negative impact from all of this, but I definitely don't expect any type of fallout in the current 22-man haul.

Good synopsis Jason, thanks.
If it does they werent meant to play here anyway.
This is a Teo issue not an ND issue.. The media hyped it up - not ND, not Teo. Teo did nothing however to stop it early - but that is on him.
Not sure how an opposing coach would spin this as a negative swat at ND without looking like a snake.
Thanks Jason. The current 22 have committed to ND, not anyone person. As always great reporting .
ND Family...Go Irish !!!!
Thanks jason, im sure you will keep us up to date.
Two time Poster of The Week, 2011 and 2013.
It hurts recruiting only that they can't use Teo as a host or really refer him and his success on the field. You can bet Teo would have been used in recruiting the remaining targets in some way, but not now.
I agree with Jason, and everyone else...ND handled this as best as they could, and I think anyone with a head on their shoulders can see that.
LET'S GET IT ON!!!!!
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
This story turned ND's best player into a Punchline...
Irish Oak in Chicago
As with many of the haters, you appear to have all the answers. Unfortunately, no one provided you with the questions.
I don't know about others here, but, to me, your constantly negative BS has rapidly reached the far side of obnoxious.
