I'm tapping out and I accept the cat calls of weakness but I can't watch this anymore.
Last year I did nothing but sing the praises of BK and staff saying they did a great job with a team so young and inexperienced but now I cant take the "exodus".
I read and re-read Lou about putting out fires but I happen to believe that leadership and steadiness of said leadership is a combination of putting fires out and preventing them. With team it seems its fire after fire after fire begging the question if they taught basic fire safety. Go to any successful program over the past decade (not some flash in the pan) Alabama for example and you see that very rarely do they lose recruit or players that contribute and EVEN IF THEY DO they have the depth to make up for it. ND is just trying to get that first 5* on campus let alone have someone step up if he "can't make it". I have been though heartbreak and excitement and loved every moment of it but since we have no "arrived" the fact we are losing commits that WE NEED and CAN NOT AFFORD to lose just kills me.
Coming to this board day after day and reading the reasons or excuses why ND couldn't hold a guy or lost a guy is so depressing and frankly Bull S**T for a team that played in the National Championship game. I know examples will be given about Florida or USC losing this guy or "hey at least we are not them", that is not good enough we are supposed to be able to say "I'm happy we are" not "at least we are not...". And keep in mind kido's those teams that lost guys have the depth to be able to afford it and still complete and not need a "miracle" or "team of destiny" season to make it to the top 5.
EV hurts, AL hurts, EG hurts ALOT... on and on EG should have been kicked out but we should not have lost AL or EV... ESPECIALLY EV... there is no way we could have accepted that lose but we all have to swallow it and because "fires happen".. qui?
again leadership is about putting fires out but preventing them in the first place.
I will watch ND this season and defend BK against all outsiders ("Thou shall not speak ill of our Mother")
but this staff better start stacking the talent like lumber or else the dream we can compete without miracle seasons is just that... a dream
Take care and a BIG SHOUT OUT to the staff here at B&G... you guys are the best people and the people that do the best are their work!

i went though the 6-6..3-9..6-6 seasons and I have been with this team for more then 16 years but finally getting to the top on a miracle dream season and then watch player after player "stay closer to home" is just BS man.
Im tired of fires being put out.....
I DONT WANT TO SEE FIRES ANYMORE... CONTRARY TO OTHER PEOPLES OPINON NOT EVERY TEAM HAS "FIRES" OR THESE KIND OF PROBLEMS TO THE SCALE THIS TEAM HAS HAD OVER THE PAST 6 MONTHS for 3 years in a row
while teams have problems they do not go though them... again... again... again ... again again again again and again...
can we have a problem-less off season?...YES!!! THERE ARE TEAMS OUT THERE THAT DO HAVE PROBLEM-LESS OFFSEASON FROM TIME TO TIME. battered IRish fan syndrome if you don't believe that... a mindset that says "everyone declares bankruptcy from time to time" is the same mindset this team and its fans and writers are having right now.
not everyone declares bankruptcy every year... bankruptcy is a metaphor or a problem/mistake filled offseason
I still cheer for and LOVE the IRISH! im not leaving the team just tapping out for the better part a season or so.. taking a break
Au revoir Craig, until we meet again!

I wonder how old you are. You probably would have absolutely destroyed
yourself had you been an Irish fan during 1974. I also wonder whether you
would have survived the tumult of the Holtz years, especially 1987-1989
when we seemed to lose one quality player for every two we recruited. And,
you either haven't read or are willingly not believing Lou when he writes
article after article attempting to provide some context to this year's offseason,
pointing out as he has that it has happened before and that it does happen
to other programs.
Now, don't get me wrong--this offseason has bluntly been a nightmare
with seven--count them---seven major "calamities" striking at the heart
of our beloved ND football program: 1/7/13; BK flirtation with NFL; Manti
embarassment; Gunner leaving; Neal/Ferguson leaving; EG ineligible;
EV to UCLA. It is depressing.
If you must leave the board for your own mental health, by all means
do so. But, my heavens, I have not heard that Notre Dame has thrown
in the recruiting towel nor have I heard that the 2013 football season
is canceled, Notre Dame is still the Rolls Royce of college football
and, above all, we still are proud to go forth and proclaim to anyone
within hearing distance that "We are the Fighting Irish." In fact,
more than ever, we need all hands on deck to do a little "fighting."
Hope you stay with it.
I just had a funny thought!..........you're leaving because the recruits are leaving?? That's a little ironic!
dave, i dont understand badgering him? did he need a post to voice his displeasure? no but why pile on? you didnt even have to read it.
well said as usual hemy.
Ill miss ya bro take care and I will save a piece of undefeated cake for you. All will be fine and I understand.
2 time POTW winner on some dates I can't remember from 2yrs ago at BNG,
POTW: 1/3/11- 1/9/11, 6/20/11-6/26/11
Certainly not piling on in any way....just had a funny thought, that's all. Appreciate you policing my input though.
I had earlier poster Au Revoir, meaning until we meet again.......was that OK for you?
Your second post was basically mocking his reasoning, even tho you ignored most of his reasoning, seemed unnecessary. big john's post was fine, no need to stir things up, obvi he was pointing out that drama never seems to stray too far from the Irish but it seems your MO is to trouble start anyway so I get why you took the extra shot.
i have been with the Irish for 16 years!!!
plz no lectures on "not being there for the bad times"
if you weren't here for the 3-9 season- 6-6 seasons... then you must have slept though that class
and just to clarity.
I need a season off... my wife and daughter can testify for my love of ND... hell my daughter is going to ND for Lords sake!!
I am not leaving because players are leaving but the leadership or lack there of.
please dont bash me I love my Irish and will always love them. I will be back but come saturdays this fall I will not be stressed... at least for this season........... :/
I really like all of you and what you have to say and the passion you bring to OUR team but lets be honest some can only take so many "Don Quixote moments"
im gonna go chase my own windmills for a while.
Reality just hit me when I pushed all the hereto mentioned "smoke being blown" aside.
lets be real guys. We should not BE losing OUR STAR recruits this close to SUMMER and have people leaving if we were on the right track or it was just a "fire" here or there.
Take care all!!
and as a show of support I will spend MORE money on on Irish gear... support for my little girl who does not have to listen(read) my anger and exhaustion
cya y'all down the road
