According to a story on coachingsearch.com, Notre Dame's Brian Kelly has more Twitter followers than all but one FBS head coach. There were 48,242 Twitter users signed up to receive Kelly's tweets as of last count. LSU's Les Miles is the most popular on Twitter with more than 63,000 followers.
The report said that exactly half of the Div. I coaches had a Twitter handle (or at least one the school had set up for them). Gaining Twitter followers is apparently a little more than just a popularity contest, Ohio State coach Urban Meyer's account ranks dead last with only 230 followers behind coaches from Idaho, Buffalo and New Mexico State.
CoachingSearch.com covers college football coaches, coaching searches, college and NFL coaching changes, coaching candidates, and coaches press conferences. Pete Roussel provides information for head coaches, assistant coaches, athletic directors, and fans.

Thanks for sharing, Dan. I'm surprised that Bob Stoops and Mack Brown haven't had Twitter accounts set up for them...
I'm sure that those numbers go way beyond popularity as a coach
