Happy St. Patrick's Day to all....I just got out of hospital for treatments again yesterday....just in time to sing for Coach Brian Kelly and his family among others. Brian Kelly was named Grand Marshall of the Chicago St. Patrick's Day Parade for today and as is custom in Chicago, the parade is preceded by a mass at Old St. Patrick's Church where I sang with the choir. I was facing the coach during the mass as we sit on the alter and face the congregation. He liked my rendition of the Minstrel Boy or so I'm told....by the time I got to meet him, he was ushered into the rectory with all the rest of the politicians and dignitaries for a pre-parade breakfast. Oh well, evidently, I am not important enough to have met him today. I know one thing for sure as my best pal Nick Brady pointed out, he said it was a shame all those phony St. Patrick's Day Irishmen got the chance to meet him and the biggest die-hard ND fan that sang for him doesn't rate. I mean I made the effort to leave the hospital a day early to hopefully be healthy enough to meet my favorite Irish coach, just to be cut off by a bunch of lace curtain Irish-Americans that are really only Irish one day a year and only cheer for ND when they win.
Life is truely not fair!
Happy and Healthy Paddy's Day or La Fheile Padraig Shona Duit!
