All set up here at the Huntington Center in Toledo for the opening game of the Toledo regional between No. 4 Notre Dame and No. 11 St. Cloud State. Irish are the top seed in the regional and come into this afternoon's game with a nine-game win streak.
For those of you unfamiliar with college hockey postseason, sixteen teams make the NCAA Tournament. Four regional groups (Toledo, Grand Rapids, Providence and Manchester) play this weekend in a single elimination format. The four regional winners meet in Pittsburgh two weeks from now for the Frozen Four.
Game started yesterday. Fourth-seeded Yale knocked off top seed Minnesota in overtime in the West division. Yale will play North Dakota today for a trip to the Frozen Four. UMass Lowell beat Wisconsin 6-1 in the east. They will play fellow Hockey East opponent New Hampshire tonight.
In South Bend the game is on locally on WHME.
Fox Sports North will be broadcasting the game regionally.
You can also watch on ESPN3.com online.
I thought you got fired? Anyway, thanks for the work bro!! Lol!!

Somehow they decided to keep me on board. For those of you interested in talking hockey come join myself and the rest of the Notre dame hockey beat writers in a roundtable discussion as we watch this afternoon's game. Should have time to answer question and describe the action. Link below:

Does anybody have a working live stream for the game? It's blacked out on ESPN3 in NYC and it's not on my Time Warner...!

1-0 at the end of the first period.

How has the play been - evenly matched? Any Irish chances in the second period this far?
Just checked the NCAA website. Looks like Irish just have up a pp goal and are down 2-0 with half the game to go......
The coveritlive link does not work for me.

For those of you not in the live chat, it's now 4-0 St. Cloud State. ND is struggling.

Looks like this one is done. Irish down 4-0 and have given up 3 goals on 4 shots in period 2 thus far......
Irish have only one shot on goal in the second period.
Tough game for the Irish. Since I tuned in (on ESPN3 btw, they turned off the blackout..) the Irish have looked sluggish and flat-footed in general. It looks to me like St. Cloud State came with a championship mindset and the Irish look hungover. Not sure what to make of this one but I'm disappointed in our play 2 periods in. We really never got anything going and just seemed to lack intensity or focus.
I'm a firm believer that Jeff Jackson is the man -- I wonder what the curfew was last night in all honesty.
I don't think curfew was the issue. I can attest to the fact that the Toledo night life isn't overflowing with temptation. St. Cloud has just done a good job of suffocating their offense before it can get started. Although I do agree that there isn't the same sense of desperation they played with during the past couple weeks.
Just saw 4-0 on ESPN. Will there be ramifications? Just awful, Brey like performance.
Notre Dame makes it 4-1. Mike Voran scores shorthanded with about 12 minutes to go and a minute later ND is headed to its first power play of the game.
Not sure what you mean by ramifications. But if you mean coaching changes, no, absolutely no chance that's even a thought.

How was Summerhays? Were the 3 shots he have up in the second all tough stops?
Gotta love people being incredibly reactionary.
just got back home. Holy Smokes; did not see this happening. Awaiting updates link said event ended.
I meant that bowing out in a blowout against the lowest seed in your bracket means something. (Should mean something???)
Not sure if personnel changes are in order but when did ND become a place when a coach can pull a Brey and then get a pass?
Good thing Muffet takes winning seriously.
Not his best day, but I don't think it's fair to pin the loss on him. He didn't get a whole lot of help from his defense. He got hung out to dry on a couple goals and he gave up a few too many rebounds.
