There has been a lot of talk lately about field turf. And a jumbotron. Luxury boxes. Maybe an interlocking ND at midfield. Basically, anything to assist Notre Dame Stadium into the 21st century. Well, I have a question: are those things I mentioned the cause for sloppy, uninspired-looking play from the Irish? Is it the fact that 87.3% of the people in attendance would normally be in bed for the night on a 3:30 kickoff (see: old people).
If you consider yourself old, but don't like the word old, substitute wise or experienced.
Last season, Notre Dame played six games at home and six games away from home. At home, they won by a total of 137-76. That's a positive margin of 61. Away from home, they won by a total of 184-48. That's a positive margin of 136. Is it the 18th century stadium? The crowd? The routine the players have to go through at ND on game day?
Any reason for this?

That whole "wise or experienced" ploy is not giving me the warm fuzzies. I think I'll just let the unwise and inexperienced deal with this question.
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
Well, looking at our home games. 1 TR played the whole game. 1 TR played over 2 quarters when Golson buckled. Purdue was second game with a brand new backfield and Golson admitting that he wasn't comfortable playing in front of so many people that knew him. 1 really good team that went to OT and Rees played a quarter. And Pitt was the flu game. Where none of those happened, we blew out Wake Forrest.
I would love to tell you it's the lack of plays available when TR is in there and the growing pains of the early season, but I don't know if it truly answers all the question marks.
Hope all those things happen minus the luxury boxes.
One thing we have to remember is that the younger generation can only read about how good ND football once was. The kids being recruited had no idea unless they were actually told to look it up or take it upon themselves to do some research. So now you have a program that hasn't played well in their lifetime and is obviously ascetically outdated one might come to the conclusion that ND is not "hip" enough.
I know ND has recruited very well recently but why make it so hard on your self? If there are advantages, as small as they may be, and they are allowed there is no reason not to take them. We do it in all aspects of life whether it's at our jobs or when we play golf. You use advantages to get ahead and ND should be no different. Fans should not hold this romantic relationship regarding ND's change just because they want "the good ole days" to remain at what they consider the Holy Grail of CFB. Kids are impressed with large HD Screens at the stadiums and being able to see themselves. One thing ND did well with has been the change in uniforms. The kids dig them and I am pretty certain viewership has not gone down because of the Shamrock Series uniforms.
Can we get red velvet cake at the concession stands as well?

I like where your head is at Bob. Since Paddy is back I think we need to get our CMC insignia out there a bit. Perhaps a plane flying overhead spelling it with smoke?

We need all of these things, first, ND has to free up the Gold Seats (via Luxury boxes) to get hell raisers near the players, and change that environment. Place is too quiet, yes I know we put in some extra sound which is better than nothing, but compared to top programs in the country our in stadium vibe has to be cranked up, and we're not even close.
2. Field turf - pick your flavor
3. Jumbo Tron

Usually am lit for great IFR post.
On stadium amenities have to admit,
do not care.
Just want to see great play by the Irish.
Believe this is where should ask staff,
could staff create an amenities board,
where all these posts ........
so do we get Jumbotron, New Beginings,
BK NEGOTIANIONS, so now debacle over......
could be efficiently ignored ?

In fairness to all that is me, this thread wasn't about amenities. It was about comparing ND's margin of victory at home versus away from home and whether or not amenities would be a factor. Other options were the routine the players have to go through on game day, as well the average age of the people in the stand.
At no point did I ask if anyone wanted a jumbotron, field turf, or a fiery ND added to the uniforms. Believe this is where I should ask the staff for a Helpful Hints board regarding reading a post.
I don't think we need another board. If you don't like the topic, move on. You can "efficiently ignore" a post on your own. I think it's a very relevant topic.
Sorry IFR first line of initial post put me to sleep.
But probably I should have woken up
and posted this on the helpful hints board.
Looking forward to your next post
I will come up with eye-opening first liners in your honor. And there's no need to apologize, as I am of the stupid cloth and - therefore - probably wrong when I reply to people. I believe I'll give you a +1 just for your love of ND. And you deserve a 5th star.
