Even a quick glance at ND's current roster reveals
that with Gunner's transfer, we will need to recruit one or
possibly two qbs in the 2014 recruiting cycle. However,
an almost equally thin position is inside linebacker. If
I am correct, in the fall of 2014, we will have Grace, Moore,
Deeb and possibly Rabasa as inside linebackers(I understand
Martini is more of an outside backer but I may be wrong).
I have also noticed that we have started in earnest to
recruit qbs and we have many offerees with a real interest
in ND at practically all of the other positions, we don't seem
to be in on too many inside linebacker types.
Now, folks, given our staff's understanding of our roster
and our staff's proven recruiting abilities, I am not the least
bit concerned. But, I was simply wondering whether anyone
was in the know about potential inside linebacker candidates?

IMO Greer is a Inisde Linebacker.
ND has offers out to Clifotn Garrett, Nyles Morgan, Rakwon McMillion, Kevin Crosby
Good news and I tend to agree with you on Greer. I am also
in agreement, per wjasonp, that randolph has the potential to
Its just that I hadn't seen too much discussion about it
even though, "on paper", its one of our thinnest postions
moving ahead to 2014.
Garret, McMillan, and Crosby aren't realistic options.
Could you explain a little more on why their not realistic.
Also, do you know of any "realistic" inside
It has been stated multiple times that Garrett couldn't get into ND even if he wanted to, regardless he has been focusing on Ohio State and SEC schools.
Crosby has a top 5 that doesn't include ND and is all southern schools. Honestly, not sure why he was even brought up in this thread, he has never shown any interest in ND at all. He is going to stay in the South.
With McMillan, do I really need to explain why we aren't going to be getting a commitment from a kid named after a guy from the Wu-Tang Clan?

If they move Randolph inside, Longo is going to need to inject him with some serious neanderthal genes for that to take place. I don't see it.
Martini will play inside.
I think they're the fight with Morgan. He has an offer from Northwestern, so he's not a Standifer or Treadwell type in the classroom. He even visited Vanderbilt. Morgan and Martini inside would be a great duo for the 2014.
I agree... I dont think we land any of them. However to my knowledge they're the only guys who the sites project as ILB with offers. The way CBK recruits Elijah Hood could be his ILB.
There was some talk of CBK scrapping the 3-4 and going to a 4-3. If thats the case maybe we're set at ILB/MLB

John Turner will never see the field for ND unless its a blowout.
I disagree. I bet he is a contributor on special teams before he is done at ND.
I think IHATEUSC was referring to meaningful minutes on D and I agree. You don't use scholarships on players that only play on ST's.
