Just heard on the radio that the #1 rated MLB in the draft ran a 4.85 in the 40 at the Georgia Pro Day. That is it for him, no chance to improve.
Same hosts who were ripping Te'o for runnign a 4.82 are now saying that it doesn't matter that Jones ran a 4.85 because he passes the 'eye test'. This is also a guy who has a history of a major injury... not a knock on him for it, but it is there and can't be denied.
I know his size is more 'NFL' than Manti's, but I can't imagine that he is still the #1 MLB taken in the draft.
EDIT - I am not knocking Jones. I personaly do not think that the 40 time for a LB is the best way to measure abilities. I just think that it is funny that the 'talking heads' are giving Jones a pass for a worse time than that which knocked Te'o way down the draft boards.
If Jones' neck checks out, he is an absolute stud at LB. But it will be interesting to see where he ends up on the mock drafts in comparison to Te'o before he logs his pro-day workouts.

Mayock had him at 4.9 and above. He said that he spoke to many scouts and this is a red flag. Of course, you don't see his time posted on the front page of ESPN.com, do you? I wonder why that is?
If nothing else, this puts Te'o's numbers in better perspective for the scouts.
3 time POTW;
Could be wrong but I thought Ogletree was their inside backer, and Jones was their stud pass-rushing outside backer. Actually in a 3-4 the olb needs to be a faster better athlete, IMO. So I think the top olb running so slow could help Teo even more. Shows there is a lot more then just a 40 time.

The times are only relevant to the people who ran the same day, on that same surface, timed in the same manner. Really, 1/10th of a second over 40 yards, in a straight line, makes a difference? Personaly, I think Manti is a better football player than Jones, but; I also think Jones is good. In the NFL, I think they both belong outside, whether it is a 3-4 or a 4-3. Forget about sprints or running through cones. Watch the effin film of their football games! What these times may tell you is that the high school times were BS to begin with!!!
