With Jarvis Jones running a dismal 4.92 40-yard dash, I was interested to see many of the Manti detractors eat their foot. Thought I share this ESPN discussion where I feel Michael Smith made some very reasonable points much in favor of Manti, putting much of the SEC rhetoric to shame.
Haha I love how they make excuses for Jarvis Jones.
Te'o isn't actually that good b/c he was too slow at the combine and he had a shitty game against Bama, a game in which most of the whole team was overmatched and frankly out-coached.
Jarvis Jones is slow and not explosive in his workouts. LOOK AT HIS FILM!!!
At least be consistent in the way you evaluate people, you hacks.
Oh the hypocrisy

Next video is David Pollack also making excuses saying that no one expected him to be a freak athlete and that he didn't hurt himself at the pro day.
.....pretty much the exact same thing could have been said about Te'o at the combine.
Manti's biggest problem is the fake girlfriend.
It is amazing the excuses ive heard compared to how they ripped Manti, lol. I heard Mel Kiper over the weekend saying it was different how people responded to this compared to Manti. He was sticking up for Manti.

Not sure why anyone would watch anything on ESPN other than live sporting events? Its all awful.
Pretty much where I'm at.
ESPN's narrative is that the most exciting/influential/scandalous moment in sports is somehow occurring right now - I already know what they're going to talk about and how they're going to spin it before I even watch it unfold. There's zero perspective coming from the commentary on the network. For me, the turning point in that network's relevance when it comes to quality commentary was Dick Schaap's final appearance, and he died soon thereafter. After that there was nothing to stop it all from turning to sh*t.
But yeah, they cover live sporting events well.
no one mentions that ALA manhandled the UGA D (over 500 yards of O and 350 yards rushing).
I think Jamelle Hill hit the nail on the head when it comes to Jones. How can you tell anyone, after these numbers, that you are happy with it!! That, to me, is the absolute biggest red flag there is about who Jarvis is and what he will bring to the team that drafts him.
