I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
I think the majority of this global social acceptance stems from one thing, social media. Look at how easy it is to connect with people these days. It's so much easier to gauge what friends family (and even strangers) are thinking. It's easier to get a general concensus through Facebook, Twitter, and right here on 247. The world is connecting and communicating easier and faster than ever before. Which in turn I think is making us more tolerable and tolerant.
The late 90's isn't that long ago at all, but compared to how the majority of the population is communicating nowadays it's light years away.

I really don't understand people who obsess about other people's sexuality. Clearly, those in this thread do not. I do not ponder what any of my neighbors who are married do in their houses any more than I wonder about the single guy next door. If this makes Mr. Collins more comfortable, I am happy for him. I am with those who wish this were not considered news.
“Notre Dame? Relevant? Of course. Call me in 90 years, and I’ll give you the same answer.” Neal Pilson, former president of CBS Sports
+1 i agree there, the media tends to exploit stories until they are over bearing, it is what it is
Good for Jason, for us all and thanks to Uganda for starting this thread.

Thanks all for having a civil and thoughtful thread on this. The one aspect I take umbrage with is the world "tolerance." Screaming babies on a four-hour flight should be tolerated. Alabama football fans in the workplace should be tolerated. A guy like Collins should be, at the very least, respected. It takes a lot of courage to be the first to do anything, even if it's seen as a non-issue in the eyes of many.
I understand tolerance is the buzzword associated with support in this case, so I don't think the sentiment behind it is bad. I just think it's not exactly the best word to use.

Please elaborate. What do you find disappointing?
Just curious, why did you ask the one person in this thread who might not be in favor to elaborate their reasons when you did not ask the ones who were in favor to elaborate on theirs?
