I talked to fifth-year senior wide receiver John Goodman today and here was his take on the quarterback race:
"Coach [Kelly] is still working really hard with each one of them. One day one guy will start and another day another guy will start. When I say 'start' that's just when we do team periods or 7-on-7. Each one of them are doing really well. I think that Tommy [Rees] is doing the best out of all of them, but that's just my opinion. In the end it's going to be the guy that runs the offense the best and also has the best timing with receivers and running backs."

Don't shoot the messenger.
Honestly, his perception of the situation doesn't really mean much to me right now, especially in April.
a spread offense qb MUST be a running threat to any defense, and rees is not. if golson and/or kiel can't be "coached up" enough to run this offense, then both were/are highly over rated coming out of hs. this is BK's baby, bathwater and all......
Run the ball.
Stop the run.
You win, or lose, up front.
Hope Goodman is off on his assessment...
I don't get it...under no iteration should Tommy Rees be the starter. I don't care if it all the sudden "clicks" and he makes better decisions...he's not the correct choice for success. It's time to turn the page and get a QB that fits BK's offense so that we can finally have an answer instead of a "temporary patch".
Golson, Hendrix or Kiel might struggle at first but it's gotta be one of them.
Well that just ruined my day. I hope Goodman is wrong, I don't think I can take another season of watching Rees at QB.

I tend to agree on hoping he's wrong.

As do I. How many more threads on this topic will be started before September?
I put the over/under on 16 1/2.
Back when it was just a rumor that Kiel would soon commit to ND (before the LSU fiasco), I recall Goodman saying something on Twitter about wanting to haze Gunner.
Trying to be optimistic here... MAYBE, and I know it's a stretch, but MAYBE Goodman is doing this to motivate the other QBs?
And Goodman also thinks he is going to be the go to guy this year. Lol
Is Goodman just brainwashed from the Weis era and can't contemplate Kelly's true spread offense? If Rees is the guy I'm going to go insane..make a change Kelly before its too late!!!! Don't be such a coward! Change is key or the history of the last 2 seasons will repeat itself.
Do you have any last requests Wes? :)
Goodman definitely had a quote last year about how well Dayne was doing. So, clearly predicting the future of QB is not his strong suit.
Hes the best at 7on7 drills. WOW....haha no.disrespectto tommy but im very sure he won't be named starter.
Dayne started last season.
My thoughts exactly!
