Considering he was at Mount Pleasant this morning to see KD Cannon today, I'm going to go ahead and call BS on this story, it's doubtful Sumlin was even in Houston at the time. For those who don't know, Mount Pleasant, TX is close to the Arkansas border, over 300 miles away from Houston.
Go Blue & Gig Em'!
Sorry, TAMU, but Deadspin says it's an 80% chance that was Sumlin in that bar, and they have anonymous sources backing them up.
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
I'm not going to respond the way that you want me to. It's your board, I'm a guest, I'm just saying I find it very hard to believe that Sumlin was in a Houston bar at 1 am and then near Texarkana recruiting at 8-9am.
Hmmm. TAMU, the way I would have liked you to respond was, "That was a good one, Ham," but I guess I have to work on my delivery. I must have been counting too much on the "Wry" in my name to be a clue. You see, Deadspin said they were 80% sure Manti was complicit in the hoax, so I was...... aw, never mind.
There is a thread on the TAMU board. I could only read 1 or 2 post. Essentially they were calling out this thread, but one of their own posters acknowledged KS was at the bar. He said "It was after the Obrien awards, I talked to him too."
So there you have it...

He has no clue what he's talking about...
Also, for the guy who said it was for the Davey O'Brien Award, that banquet doesn't happen until February 18....in Fort Worth, also over 300 miles away from Houston.
So do you root more for TAMU since they are ranked higher than UM or how does that work?
I was born in Michigan, I have a family full of alumni. I went to high school in TX. Out of high school, I was accepted into Michigan and Texas A&M, I couldn't afford to pay for the tuition at Michigan so I decided to attend Texas A&M. I will be getting my masters from Michigan, when I graduate from A&M. Does it really matter how I became a fan of both? How you became an ND fan is irrelevant to me, I just know that you are an ND fan.
I think it is interesting how people become fans of more than one team. I am a student at Clemson, but I love Notre Dame. I also grew up rooting for Penn St. (my dad is an alumnus). College sports is unique in that way. Still an ND dan by far though.
Call BS if you may. I have a sports reporter who will vouch for me. 300 miles is a few hour drive, much less a small plane ride from Houston. Coach Sumlin was 100% (not 80%) at Midtown Drinkery at 1am Monday night/Tuesday morning. He was flanked by two older men in TAMU maroon polos. Not many people recognized him because the bar was filled with really young kids, but there was a group of us who did. Out of respect and to prevent an altercation, I did not take a picture without asking. But I should have if only to prove you wrong.

I understand the burden of proof is on me, but to disregard my encounter with KS just because "people would have reported seeing Sumlin" is ridiculous. I am a person "reporting seeing Sumlin", how many more do you need to validate my story? Ten? Fifteen? What is the probability of multiple people from this message board being in Midtown Drinkery at between the 1230 and 0100 on MLK night? Very slim won't you say.
OK, I'm betting it's the Michigan part that didn't get my joke.
Ask the dude, who is an A&M fan and posted it on the A&M board....I just cut and pasted the link from the A&M board. Go over there, we really don't want or need you here, that is just my opinion.
Thanks for the support over there KKING. Tough crowd. The Manti references were plentiful, our credibility definitely took a hit in "pop culture".
of course no one knows what really was going on but one can speculate that he was being cautious of any negative tweets or pics going out. i am sure these guys have to on their guard all the time. its too bad really
He is probably just trying to fit in as this is a very "SEC thing" for their coaches to do.

Least I could do....
Unfortunately I called the mod a "girl" and he locked the thread, LOL....
