University of Kentucky sent football recruit Matt Elam 182 letters today telling him why he should go to UK.
Keeper of all Somogyi secrets and swell quotes.
Well if it works it will be labeled as brilliant.

They're UK. Why should they try to recruit a kid the same way that an Alabama, a Notre Dame, an LSU would?
That would be foolish.
Alabama's employed this mass mailing strategy before actually...I think this method is just one of many things recruiters are adding to their bag of tricks. Obviously you can't do it for everybody and need to be judicious is picking the recruit and timing, but this will continue to be a way to try and get on players' radar and gain a commitment.
Even the big time programs like Bama use this technique but I personally find it to be pretty lame.
It's crazy how often guys get 100+ letters.. I don't understand it.

Isn't that what Alabama did to Hood prior to #FlushTide?

LOL....A downvote for that?
1. If I were the recruit I would hate this. No one would enjoy opening 182 envelopes!
2. What could they possibly say in 182 different letters?
3. I hope they were hand written and addressed, too.
3 time POTW;
If Matt Elam doesn't end up at Kentucky I would be really shocked....
History is working against you. KY is recruiting well this year and I'm glad to see it but they struggle getting the marquee player from within the state in football. Paul Hornung nearly 60!years ago and more recently Austin Collinsworth. Not saying he will go to ND but the big programs will win out over UK
The odds are in your favor since its multiple schools vs Kentucky but they lead and they have a top 5 class
I'm not sure if it is desperation or it just took that many time to get the spelling correct.....
By the NSD they'll be anywhere from 15-25. Regardless if we get Elam or not, ND will have a top 5-10 class.
Holley and Soloman would finish the class out nicely, although a true nose guard would be preferred. I'll never turn down depth along the D-line.
Holley and Solomon huh? You calling your shot? I'd be good with that.
The BBN "big blue nation" also recruits heavily on twitter by sending pics of good looking women to recruits. If a recruit chooses a school based on that...
"BBN" Is actually the Big Broke Nation.
Never has a fan base had so little money. I drive around Lexington shaking my head at the lack of investment in this school. For a fan base that follows their basketball team to the ends of the earth, they don't have two cents among them.
Jmimbo, your depiction of UK could apply to quite a few public schools. The UK fan base had it's origin in the Rupp era of the '40s and ''50s when most of the players were in state and the fans were farmers and coal miners
And now they are subservient to 5 kids every year that don’t give a crap about UK. They are here 6 months and then it’s all rear view mirror. Lemmings continue to bow.
Yep it was either this year or last that there was only one player recognized on Senior Day
