My wife and I made the trip to Ireland with our 3 year old son. He was in my arms for most of the game, when he was awake he spent most of the time watching the Navy goat patrol the sideline. There will be a tear in my eye when I see him take the field, just like there was last year when he first ran onto the field at ND stadium.

There is a tear in my eye as I recall being a twelve year old sitting in front of the RCA console radio listening to you and the Irish take the field your sophomore year and bring the national championship to the Irish in 1966. "Hanratty to Seymour"! What incredible memories I have of those days. They are indeed part of the fabric of my life.
Congratulations to you and Connor. You reconfirm my belief that the legacy of Notre Dame consumes far more than wins and losses.
5 Time POTW--Gringo Mafia Director of Guerrilla Warfare
You should very a proud father. It's great to relish these types of moments in today's crazy society that usually seems to offer only bad news.
Speaking of which I really enjoyed your comments and snippets about you in About Three Bricks Shy of a Load. Just re-read it again in anticipation of football season. Some interesting dynamics with that '73 team to say the least.
There was a silver lining in that cloud. While the Steelers didn't deliver that year at least ND came through in the Sugar Bowl against Bama.
Thanks Terry for the great quotes ! I am a classmate fo your brother Pete , who was a high jumper on our track team as I recall . He is a great guy ; he was very humble and likeable and I believe he shares your pride in watching his nephew Connor play Navy in Ireland . Robert Downs ND 1966 .
