Notre Dame football registered an Academic Progress Rate of 973 for the 2011-12 school year, up three points from the previous year.
The 973 score puts Notre Dame in the upper echelon of football programs, but below some notable names. Northwestern had the nation's highest score with a 996 on a 1,000-point scale. They were followed by notable programs such as:
Boise State (993)
Ohio State (982)
Boston College (982)

The APR is calculated on a four-year rolling basis and takes into account the retention rate and academic eligibility of all members of each team.
Twelve Notre Dame teams from others sports scored perfect scores (1,000) in APR for the 2011-12 term.
A bit more on how the APR is calculated for those interested:

And for those of you really into this type of stuff, here's an easy-to-use database to find APR scores for all sports and schools.
Not sure how to feel about this.
I remember many years ago when I lived in the Quad City's all you would hear about is the Iowa Hawleyes football. at the time I am not sure if it is still that way but they had special classes for the football player and one of them was bowling. Ha!
Just know APR is dumb and means nothing.
Simple take the football academic schedule ND CLASS LOAD- Flip that load to the OSU, ALABAMA kids-
Take ND KIDS flip said univ schedules to them and see how they both do...
Wanna take a guess how the Alabama kids would do with an ND class load...
