The Fighting Irish and Scarlet Knights tip-off following the St. John's-Villanova game tonight on ESPN2.
Other scores from the day's second-round action:
Cincinnati 61, Providence 44
Syracuse 75, Seton Hall 63
Villanova has a 45-40 lead over St. John's with 8:43 to play.
Here come the Fighting Lime Green.
Seagears, Mack, Poole, Judge and Johnson starting for Rutgers.
Connaughton, Cooley, Atkins, Grant and Knight get it started for Notre Dame.
Tom Knight with back-to-back buckets for the Irish, which have a 4-0 lead through the first 90 seconds. Always good to have Knight confident early on.

Connaughton 3-pointer gives Irish a 7-3 lead at the under-16 timeout.
The unis are terrible
Atkins picks up second foul less than seven minutes in.
You know. I don't hate then other than the sox. They jerseys are actually cool.
Nice series for Connaughton — defensive rebound and a 3-pointer on the other end to give ND a 15-7 lead with 11:58 to go in the first half.
Villanova topped St. John's 66-54, by the way.
Here's Thursday's quarterfinal match-ups so far:
Georgetown vs. Cincinnati
Pittsburgh vs. Syracuse
Louisville vs. Villanova
Marquette vs. Notre Dame/Rutgers
Atkins needs to play smart with two fouls, especially now that Grant is sitting with two as well.
If Cooley can start making some buckets it will be over by halftime.
Rutgers is just 5-of-18 from the field so far. Irish are 7-of-20 but 3-of-4 from behind the arc.
Excellent passing on back-to-back possessions for Irish, which have a 29-15 lead and a chance to demoralize the Scarlet Knights before intermission.
Irish with only three turnovers so far.
Not a charge, not even close.
Sure looked like a block, but Grant called for offensive foul and will sit the final minute of the half with three fouls. Irish up 31-17
Knight with 10 points for the Irish in the first half. Notre Dame heads into the locker room with 33-17 advantage.
That's a good lead. Put your foot on their throat and finish them.
And that's really all you have to do defensively against the Irish — pressure them.
Rutgers comes out with a 7-0 run in the second half. Just like that it's a game again.
No excuse. Atkins looks beyond sloppy
After 9-0 run to start the first half for Rutgers, Irish punch back with 3-pointers by Grant and Connaughton.
Maybe it's time for the Irish to start paying attention to Johnson. Notre Dame up 41-32 with 14:49 to play.
