Inspired by Halcyon's recent meetings.....What celebrities have you met? Not spotted from a distance but actually MET and spoke with....
When working at around the World Trade after 9/11 I met James Gandolfin (Whom I called Tony) and Little Stevie (dont even know his real name). Both guys were really cool and were there with a cooler and gave out sangwhiches to me and my crew. Hung out and joked around for a bit.
I met Regis one morning on Central Park West. He came out to yell about all the noise we were making early on a Saturday morning, I turned around and had an ND T-shirt on and he was all smiles. Shook my hand, thanked me for the good work, and we talked about the team a bit...It was after the '07 season so there wasnt much to talk about.
I met my all-time favorite football player Mark Bavaro on campus a few years ago. I heard he was around and was wearing my NY Giant #89 jersey. I spotted him from a distance and SPRINTED towards him. I was a a 30 year old man, meeting his childhood icon and reverted back to a 12 year old...He turned around to see me charging at him and was a bit alarmed by my eagerness I think, but we had a good laugh when I asked him to hoist me in the air like he did to McConkey in the '86 super bowl. He politley declined and shook my hand instead....then I asked if I could jump on his back and have him drag me around for a while....luckily he thought I was joking....
