The nation qualifies as Notre Dame's "base." This is what can make recruiting more challenging for the Irish staff, although ND certainly has its advantages to sell:
RB Elijah Hood — North Carolina
WR Justin Brent — Indiana
TE Nic Weishar — Illinois
OG Jimmy Byrne — Ohio
OG Sam Mustipher — Maryland
DL Jay Hayes — New York
DL Andrew Trumbetti — New Jersey
LB — Greer Martini — Virginia
Nothing yet from west of the Mississippi River. It will happen.
ACC country should be a successful area to recruit on coming years for most of our sports at ND..
Lou I think its going a bit overboard to claim the Nation as ND's base. We haven't pulled guys out of the deep south (Alabama, Mississippi, Arkansas, Louisiana since Davie & Tyrone.
We've also only pulled 1 kid out of Utah.
ND's base is the Midwest, Atlantic Coast, Florida and California.

Until we start getting serious in Alaska we simply can't make this claim!!

Big whoop. Call me when we start recruiting the unincorporated territories. Puerto rice and the US Virgin Islands is where it's at

Ah yes, those wonderful Davie and Willingham teams of yore. How I pine for those. The 4th and shorts, the molded men, the players from the deep south that no one else wanted--that's a formula for success.
