I really wish the stats were consistent for college basketball games. ESPN commentators say something different than the ESPN website, which is always different from the stats at UND.com. Oh well.
What the hell did Knight do now? Why even start him? Now Sherman is Brey's new go to guy.
Hancock, who has been really quiet, knocks down a 3-pointer to give Louisville a 41-35 lead with 11:38 to play.
Hancock scored 22 points against ND in South Bend and 10 when the Irish visited Louisville. He has six tonight.
Irish have to do something about Louisville's penetration after this timeout or it's going to get out of hand. Cardinals up 45-37 with under 10 minutes to play.
Irish in the bonus with 8:04 to play. Louisville will be as well with next ND foul.
These refs have no balls. How was that not an offensive foul on Siva?
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
Just when it looks like it's going to get out of hand, Connaughton drops a trey. Louisville up 50-44 with 5:39 to play.
Hancock 3-pointer in transition boosts Louisville to largest lead of the night, 55-44, with four minutes to go in the game.
no one has the guts to take a shot. they run in and pass sloppy, leading to steals. someone has to get some confidence.
What is the world record for turnovers, and how far is Grant away from it?
Grant and Atkins missed front ends of one-and-ones. If you're going to stay with Louisville, you need to be be near perfect. Atkins is having a solid game, but he hasn't hit a shot in the tournament. The Irish are playing with intensity, but you have to hit on all eight cylinders against this team. It will probably take another miraculous finish like they had in Purcell.
On that layup by Siva, what a great ole defense from Sherman. If they drive the lane with no impunity, they will keep doing it..... and score.

Wow, Brey's got Beidscheid covering Smith. Good luck with that.
Grant will take his 28 footers.
I think that was in part due to Atkins' four fouls. Atkins had to stay away from the play, but should have gotten some help. Guys need to know Atkins will be playing soft defense.
But it was Sherman that backed off and opened up a path. If he had a red carpet, he would have put it down.
That's all she wrote; Louisville wins 69-57. The next time the two teams meet will probably be in an ACC regular-season game next year.
Well, they deserved to lose. They looked scared to take any mid range 2 shots, and were reckless trying to drive to the basket. Then they stopped playing defense and made incredibly bad passes. And for the life of me, our big men weren't even close to being in positions for rebounds, and if they were, they didn't even bother to jump for it. This game was sad and I hope they learn from it.
We just are not as good as the Cards. I am surprised how vicious some you get when talking about a team that is not good enough to win the Big East and in my opinion has played up top its talent level most of the year. I wish they were better but they just are not.

Too many TOs and ND didn't control the boards - meaning ND didn't get many second shots off. We all knew ND had to hit on ALL cylinders to have a chance to pull out a win tonight - it didn't happen. Louisville's full court pressure was coming no surprise ND just couldn't adjust to it. But they did play their hearts out - hope we can advance in the tourney - GO IRISH!
On the right night where the stars are aligned and you get the right bounces (like late Feb. 9 and early Feb. 10), Notre Dame can beat Louisville. This wasn't one of them. That's an outstanding basketball team, definite Final Four caliber.
It's true, we get overly critical in the midst of a game with all its frustrations. Sometimes it's hard to accept the reality that there's probably always going to be a talent disparity between ND and some of the premier b-ball programs in the country. That being said, there is still room for improvement with this team. In prior years, including last year, I felt they really maxxed out their talent. I never got that feeling this year. Maybe they can still pull a surprise or two in the Big Dance.
We dont handle pressure well and the cards pressure killed us, along with second chances on the boards. This is about what i expected, they are not a good matchup for us. Hopefully we can get a win or two in the tourney.
