- $60 million fine (equal to one year of football program's gross annual revenue
- 5-year probation period
- 4-year postseason bowl ban
- Scholarships decline from 25 to 15 per year
- All current or incoming players are allowed to transfer without penalty
- All wins from 1998-2011 are vacated from the school and Joe Paterno's record
NCAA Pres. Mark Emmert said they discussed suspending the football program (aka death penalty), but decided that it would bring "significant unintended harm" to many who had nothing to do with the Sandusky case.

The Scholarship decline is also over a 4 year period. I am sure there are many viewpoints on these penalties, but IMO the bottom line is there was a total lack of control. Too many knew too much.

Charlie Weis gets another loss vacated. What's that now, 3? (PSU 2007, USC 2005, UNC 2008)
Nice knowin' ya Penn State football! Too bad we didn't have a home and home scheduled with them.
My luck w/the Irish 20-6...GO IRISH!!!
Wow apparently PSU has already signed something stating that they will follow with the penalties and NOT appeal, if im understanding what he just said correctly.
What does the 5 year probation mean?

Yes, it seems like the new powers at Penn State sat down with the NCAA and two groups agreed upon these punishments together. Otherwise it would have been tough to impose the sanctions without the NCAA doing their own investigation or before the other verdicts came down in the legal system.
Sadly this affects all of the students who had absolutely had ZERO to do with any of this. I know there well be many on this board who are salivating at the chance to woo away athletes from PSU, but in the end there will be alot of kids that suffer because of a sick twisted man, and those who turned a blind eye.
One good measure Emmert just laid out was that there is a stipulation with the $60 million fine that no other teams or athletes on scholarship can be taken away to help pay the fine.
Wow, you really don't get it....

I'll be curios to see how many players will transfer out. You have to figure most of the current commits will bail.

Just another step on this sad journey. I certainly was curious what sanctions would be brought against PSU, but afterwards my thoughts were again with the victims and their families.
Just read that a PSU CB already decommited, last name is Douglas, also read that Adam Breneman, PSU's 5 star TE, his father posted something on his kids twitter about not answering any questions about his recruitement,,,, think we got a chance at this kid?? We got Anzalone to help him join us now
No such recruit
Was about to post on Adam Brenenman
I think we have a pretty good shot with our te history and Alex anzalone
I like our chances
