I wonder this NOW in todays CFB landscape- He was OK at MSU- Sucked in Miami (NFL)
Killed it at two SEC schools that I think most here would agree are simply not constricted like ND- Academics, Culture etc...
I LOVE THE WAY he runs offense- run the ball to throw- tuff ball like Holtz (Fully admit I love HOLTZ) I just wonder could Saban win at ND like he does in the SEC...
Just a curiosity- Would love to here the mobs intelligent thoughts:)

Scored 4 touchdowns...in a single game. Polk High!
Had he had stayed at MSU they would have been good. The foundation was set. The Dolphins made huge gains under him but for whatever reason (not signing Brees?) he left. Guy is a great coach and ND would be luck to have him. With that said, I love the work B. Kelly has done at ND. Only thing I have issue with, is the lack of play action and throwing the ball DEEP.
Saban would face stricter limitations in recruiting but I think would still have no problem bringing in the talent needed to win a title. At this point in his career on reputation alone he can rake in talent - the pitch would be something like "We will compete for a title every year. If you work hard, maximize your talent and aren't afraid to compete, I put tons of players in the NFL. I am the best coach to develop you".
He would definitely clash with the administration in pushing for resources and power that he is currently allowed at Alabama but would not be at ND.
I don't think that he would be a good coach at ND because of the restrictions that would be placed on him. At Bama he can do whatever he wants and has an unlimited budget (see the new recruiting coordinators he was just able to hire because of the new NCAA rules).
Unfortunately, players at Notre Dame have to attend classes and he is not used to that.
He wouldn't be able to recruit half the players he has now.
Not a chance he wins at nd. Dont want to hear hd can coach anywhere. He has the luxury of not worrying abt academics in no way shape or form. In todays society with the entitlements kids expect and the easy way out no way. Thats just my thinking!!!!!!
6-Time POTW Winner, 4 time at BGI and 2 at 24/7
I fully believe that Coach Kelly is every bit the coach as Nick Saban and if Kelly was in the SEC playing by their rules he would have a BCS national championship on his resume.
I may not be pretty, but I'm fast.....
POTW 1/31/11 - 2/6/11
Well I was going to reply but this sums up my thoughts exactly!!
Saban will win wherever he goes. But Gordon Gee said it best as to why Saban would turn down the job even if ND offered it......"you can't trust those damn Catholics"......
Run the ball.
Stop the run.
You win, or lose, up front.
